Meet Our Buyer, Daneen
My name is Daneen Eaton and I am the buyer and “visionaire” for Dovecote, Nest and Sprout in Fearrington Village. For a designer and merchant at heart….a dream of a job.
This is my second stint at Fearrington – the first for eight years upon graduating from UNC, and again, for the last 12. (I am now 64 – we are talking about a long relationship!)
Having been involved with the cultivation of plans and ideas for the Village in the early years, you can imagine the thrill of coming back and finding that everything had evolved just as we had imagined. (Including our beloved herd of striped Belted Galloway cows – which came about because I thought they would be a perfect graphic symbol for an ad I was drawing for the WSJ and The New Yorker magazine! Who knew?!)
It’s Market Season in the retail world, and I am on the road July through September scouting/scouring, tasting/testing, trying out/trying on….. in search of out-of-the-ordinary finds for Dovecote, Nest and Sprout that will leave your friends asking “where did you find that?!”
Much care goes into this selection process where greeting cards are handpicked as thoughtfully as sumptuous scarves and divine cocktail shakers, and I have found myself wishing I could share with you why I chose “this” or suggest a clever use for “that.”
In this informal communique every Friday, I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite finds, sharing styling tips for your wardrobe and your home as well as discoveries I’ve made where I can honestly say, “Trust me…..(I think) you’ll LOVE this!”
