The holidays are upon us, and here’s what’s happening at the store!
For the littles – storytime with our own fantastic Sarah Carr! Stories, songs and all around fun for babies, toddlers and preschoolers with Miss Sarah and an occasional friend.
Tuesday, December 5th at 10:30am: Special Storytime with Linda Ashman
Join McIntyre’s Books for a special storytime with author Linda Ashman and her book, William’s Winter Nap!
Just when William is ready to fall asleep in his cozy cabin, there is a tap on his window. A chilly chipmunk asks to stay, and Will scooches over in bed. The chipmunk is just the first in a parade of mammals, each bigger than the last, until the bed is full. Kids will enjoy counting along as the animals keep scooching over to fit in William’s bed.
Saturday, December 9th at 2pm: Holiday Storytime with Llama Llama Red Pajama
Join McIntyre’s Books for a special storytime and visit from Llama Llama Red Pajama himself to celebrate the holiday season! Come in your cozy pajamas to hear some Llama Llama stories, do some fun crafts and enjoy holiday treats! Children of all ages are welcome!

Saturday, December 2nd at 2pm: Scott Reintgen – Nyxia
Every life has a price in this sci-fi thriller that has the nonstop action of The Maze Runner and the high-stakes space setting of Illuminae. This is the first in a new three-book series called the Nyxia Triad that will take a group of broken teens to the far reaches of the universe and force them to decide what they’re willing to risk for a lifetime of fortune.
This is the first book from local author Scott Reintgen!
Dovecote is hosting two trunk shows from 10am to 6pm with jewelry designer Millianna and cashmere scarf maker KAS.
The Goat will be hosting their weekly free wine tasting with Fearrington sommeliers at 3 PM, and Mark Holland will be playing live at Roost Beer Garden from 4 – 7 PM- you’re probably gonna need a slice after all that!
Saturday, December 9th at 11am: Nate Swick – American Birding Association Field Guide to Birds of the Carolinas
This new book in the American Birding Association Field Guide series includes 550 beautiful color photographs featuring 300 bird species in natural habitats, a clear and concise introduction, identification, habitat, and birdsong text. It’s perfect for beginning and intermediate birders!

Sunday, December 10th at 2pm: Heather Bell Adams – Maranatha Road
After Sadie’s son, Mark, is gone, she doesn’t have much use for other people, including her husband. The last person she wants to see is Tinley Greene, who shows up claiming she’s pregnant with Mark’s baby. Sadie knows Tinley must be lying because Mark was engaged and never would have betrayed his fiancee. So she refuses to help, and she doesn’t breathe a word about it to anybody. But in a small, southern town like Garnet, nothing stays secret for long.
Saturday, December 16th at 11am: Donald Davis Storytelling
We are thrilled that Donald Davis is returning to The Fearrington Barn on Saturday and Sunday to delight us with his stories! Donald has been visiting The Fearrington Barn to spin his tales for over 20 years and is one of the foremost storytellers in the country. He has been featured at the World’s Fair, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Storytelling Festival, and as guest host on NPR’s “Good Evening.”
In lieu of admission, donations of canned goods to CORA and gently used Children’s Books to Book Harvest will be accepted. This event fills up quick so get there early!
Taste hand-selected red and white wines at The Goat for their free weekly wine tasting at 3pm.
Sunday, December 17th at 2pm: Donald Davis Storytelling
Renowned story teller Donald Davis is back!
In lieu of admission, donations of canned goods to CORA and gently used Children’s Books to Book Harvest will be accepted. This event fills up quick so get there early!
