Real Weddings
Kaitlin & Travis
Kaitlin & Travis tied the knot on May 28, 2017. These newlyweds said their “I do”s under the Crabapples and danced the night away in The Barn!
How did you and your partner meet?
Travis and I met on Tinder, a dating app. While sitting with some friends all swiping away on the app, I matched with Travis. One of my friends happened to know him and said he was a great guy, and convinced me to messaged him. We started talking and he quickly asked for my number, from there we talked constantly. We went on three dates in the next week and the rest is history!
Tell us about the engagement?
Travis pulled off an incredible proposal! My life long dream has always been to compete on the amazing race, and Travis centered the proposal around that. I picked up my mom at the airport for a preplanned visit. When my mom got into the car she reached behind my seat and pulled out that iconic yellow race envelope that Travis had hid there and I lost it, I immediately knew that the evening would end in a proposal. The “clue” sent me to the NC State Belltower were a friend was waiting with the next clue! From there we proceeded to my law school, and to the restaurant where we had our first date, picking up friends all along the way and ending up at the NC Capitol Building were Travis was waiting. Travis then proposed and of course I said yes! It was better than anything I could have dreamed of and it was so special to have my mom and our close friends there!
What made Fearrington the place for you to say “I do?”
For our wedding we both really wanted an outdoor wedding. I really wanted a barn reception and Travis wanted a southern estate/plantation feel. As soon as we drove into Fearrington we were intrigued. We immediately fell in love with the gardens, barn and Fearrington house. It had everything we both wanted and even more! We loved how hands on Fearrington was and how it encompassed the planning, food, flowers, and cake, I made everything so easy for us!
Describe the highlight moment of your wedding day.
We had three big highlight moments to our wedding. The first was our first look, we tell everyone that we think the first look is the way to go, we loved having that time before the ceremony to see each other and get some of that initial emotions and nerves out, and we just couldn’t wait until 5:30 to see each other!
Our second highlight was having all of our family and friends present and involved in the wedding, we felt so showered with love and support that it made our day all the more special!
Our third biggest highlight was after being pronounced husband and wife and we exited the ceremony, after we rounded the corner heading for the garden house we both just just crying happy tears, we couldn’t believe that the day was finally here and we were officially married, it was such an emotional moment knowing that we were husband and wife and that this day was just about our love and celebrating that!
What was the biggest surprise of the day?
The biggest surprise of the day was how calm and carefree the day was! We were both constantly asked if we were nervous and we can honestly say that we were not, we were just so excited to get to see each other at our first look and be together on that special day that was all about us! It was truly the best day of our lives and we were able to enjoy everything about it from start to finish!
Anything you want to add about your wedding story?
After a fourteen month engagement we were so excited for our wedding to finally arrive after all the planning and dreaming about it! We could not have imagined a better day and we have to attribute much of that to our amazing venue and vendors! Each person we worked with were so professional and helped our day go off without a hitch! We knew we were in good hands with each vendor we worked with and we can honestly say we would not change a thing our our special day! The talent of all of our vendors made it easy for us to enjoy our day and know that we were in good hands as each person took the time to get to know us as a couple and see our vision for our wedding!
