The name of the company is Fitch Creations, Inc., but most folks know us as Fearrington Village. We started Fearrington in 1974 and we are its sole developer and builder. We own and manage almost all the businesses in our Village Center, including the shops, restaurants, inn, spa, bookshop and more. It’s all we do, and we’re based here too. These different businesses offer you paths for career growth.

Current Openings

Breakfast Line Cook

Thursday – Monday, generally 6am – 2pm. Occasional Wednesday over Monday.

Need a responsible self-starter who can work unsupervised.

Compensation DOE and is negotiable.

A line cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items and will report to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef. Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up station according to restaurant guidelines
  • Preparing all food items in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Following recipes, portion control and presentation as set by the Restaurant
  • Restocking of all items as needed during the shift
  • Cleaning and maintaining the station practicing good safety, sanitation and organizing skills
  • Properly using all equipment in station
  • Assisting with the cleaning and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas
  • Performing additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef or Executive Chef as needed

Qualifications include:

  • Skilled professional cooking, knife handling, kitchen safety and sanitation practices and food handling
  • Previous experience
  • English language communications skills
  • Ability to take direction, work in a team environment and work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Committed to quality service
  • Ability to stand during entire shift, occasional exposure to hot and cold, lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.

Full time employees have access to full benefits after 90 days.

Massage Therapist

Full or Part Time – Weekends a must

 

$10/hr + Service Fee (15%) + Commission (15%) + Tips!!

Join the team at The Spa at Fearrington, part of The Fearrington House Inn, one of America’s top small hotels located near Chapel Hill, NC.

Our Team is responsible for providing high-end luxury services to our spa guests. This position reports directly to the Spa Manager. This position requires weekend availability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensures a pleasant visit for each guest
  • Maintain effective guest relations
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards management, co-workers and guests alike
  • Prepares and maintains the products, supplies and equipment in spa
  • Promote and sell spa products
  • Maintain knowledge of all treatments and have the ability to explain treatments to guest
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the spa
  • Possess critical time management skills
  • Assist management and co-workers as requested or needed
  • Attend all departmental, spa and property meetings and training sessions

Qualifications include:

  • Must possess current license/s and certificate/s as required by the State Board
  • Ability to take direction, work in a team environment, work calmly and effectively under pressure

Catering & Special Events Staff

Catering and Special Event staff are responsible for working special events on the property including weddings and corporate functions. These functions are located at one of Fearrington’s on-site venues, including The Fearrington Barn and The Garden Terrace. Recently, Forbes Travel Guide, America’s most trusted hospitality ranking system, listed The Fearrington House Inn as the nation’s “top luxury hotel for weddings.” It’s a great opportunity to become a part of a great team!

The Catering and Special Event team is responsible for site preparation, food service and upholding a high standard for customer service. Work is year round, but seasonal with spring and fall being the busiest times. They will report to the catering manager.

Long work days are common (approximately 12+/- hours, working inside and outside, and many events are nights and weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Responsibilities include:

  • Set up for events; including cleaning, stocking and set-up of regularly used items such as tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement and putting up a buffet, carry trays to serve guests and cleaning up at the event’s conclusion.
  • A catering staff’s duties during the event can vary based on the situation, but, in general, they must be able to focus on the job while staying on their feet and moving about freely, which can include bending, climbing stairs and carrying items weighing 25-50 pounds.
  • Good communication is important, as is being able to follow directions efficiently and meeting the physical demands of the job. A positive attitude while on the job is also essential.
  • Catering staff must adhere to health and safety standards at all times, even when closing down at the end of the event, which will include breaking down the table set up and taking tablecloths and linens to the laundry.

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to arrive at work in a timely manner and with a pleasing disposition
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as banquet event orders
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks, multi-task, and maintain focus
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred but not required

Barista

Join the staff at the Belted Goat, our casual eatery and coffee shop in Fearrington Village.

A barista is responsible for responsible for providing excellent customer care as you consistently prepare coffee and tea beverages to the highest standard, at a high volume. In addition to these tasks, you would be expected to maintain daily operations (cleaning, stocking, organizing) while also running the register and taking orders; continually building upon your skills and knowledge, and contributing to a positive team atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Food and beverage experience, preferably barista experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive, vibrant attitude with a smile
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated, yet also team oriented
  • A positive attitude with excellent communications skills

Sommelier

The Fearrington House is seeking a sommelier. Recently awarded The Best Hotel Wine List in the World for 2020 by the World of Fine Wines Magazine and a Best of Award of Excellence distinction with Wine Spectator since 2004, we are looking for a sommelier with a passion for wine, beer and spirits.

This position is NOT for a high-level candidate, but there is certainly room to grow. Being part of the FHR is great training wheels for Level 1 or 2 sommeliers starting in their careers. We combine fine-dining service with southern hospitality, devoid of ostentation and pretense. Emphasis on the “southern” part of the statement– we are not located in a bustling city; we revel in the slower, relaxing pace in this part of the world. We cultivate and nurture our people slowly and carefully.

Thursday – Sunday, generally 3pm – 11pm.
This position is responsible for daily preparation of the restaurant, food service and upholding a high standard for customer service.

Seeking someone who has some experience and is friendly. Preference will be given to those with fine dining experience.

Hours are generally Thursday – Sunday, 3pm – 11pm.

PM Pastry Line Cook

The Fearrington House, at Fearrington Village, is recruiting an experienced afternoon and night Pastry Chef. Qualified candidates must be able to work the days we are open (weekends especially) and on holidays. Hours are generally Thursday – Sunday, 12pm – 10pm.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing desserts for dinner guests
  • Following recipes and assisting in the development of new recipes
  • Following prep list and ensuring all products are fresh before serving
  • Ensuring all coolers and storage areas are maintained, neat, organized, and rotated
  • Maintaining highest sanitary conditions
  • Ensuring all work areas are safe & reporting any unsafe conditions
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidates must:

  • Have previous experience in a high volume quality kitchen
  • Be a team player, self motivator
