The Fearrington House is seeking a sommelier. Recently awarded The Best Hotel Wine List in the World for 2020 by the World of Fine Wines Magazine and a Best of Award of Excellence distinction with Wine Spectator since 2004, we are looking for a sommelier with a passion for wine, beer and spirits.
Note from the Wine Director:
This position is NOT for a high-level candidate, but there is certainly room to grow. Being part of the FHR is great training wheels for Level 1 or 2 sommeliers starting in their careers. We combine fine-dining service with southern hospitality, devoid of ostentation and pretense. I’d like to emphasize the “southern” part of the statement– we are not located in a bustling city; we revel in the slower, relaxing pace in this part of the world. We cultivate and nurture our people slowly and carefully. I tell my team that they have a 2-year expiration date – after that time, they should have learned everything they need to learn to move on and get a job in a more fast-paced environment.
Pins and where you’ve worked isn’t that important to me. If you’re passionate about wine, a self-starter, and are eager to learn – with a great attitude to boot? I’d love to talk to you. This company cares about its people, not just professionally but personally, and if this is important to you, then please send in your cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line of Fearrington House Restaurant Employment. I look forward to hearing from you.
