Wine of the Week [January 5th – January 11th]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, just thought “Hey…sparkling icewine…Brilliant!,” we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m.

Bordeaux will play host region for the wine of this week, with an interesting Bordeaux Blanc shaking things up!  Normally, most people associate Bordeaux with dusty old bottles of red wine you need to be excessively wealthy to get your hands on, but wine from this very storied region comes in all forms!   Expensive, inexpensive, still, sparkling, red, white, rose, sweet, or dry, can be found here.  We will keep things simple enough, with just a still red and a white to whet your appetite!

Lots of technology involved with this production, with measures like “parcel selection” vinification put in place by Lionel Latorse to ensure no compromise in quality.  Result?  Steely, bright citrus with a saline minerality on the finish!  $11Retail

Impressive dark fruit, graphite, morel mushrooms, and wonderfully integrated tannin that drinks silken and smooth.  Alongside a dish of perfectly roasted beef with any number of green vegetable and potato accoutrements, bliss! C’est si bon!  $23/Retail

See you Friday!!!
