Wine of the Week [February 2nd – February 8th]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, get unnecessarily emotional upon seeing a chipped wine glass, we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m.

Los vinos de España han sido cautivando los corazones y las mentes de los amantes del vino desde hace siglos.  Blame Google Translate if that doesn’t make sense.  Long story short, Spanish wine regions have are no stranger to the mainstream wine scene, with names like Rioja and Cava recognizable to even the most casual of wine drinkers.  The regions from which the wines for this week hail stand shoulder to shoulder with the Napa Valleys and Madeiras of the wine world in terms of general prominence, but in keeping with the Goat’s showcasing of wine with great value, we’re presenting awesome selections that can be had for less than the co-pay to go to the doctor after the tightening of the chest that you’d experience if you saw how much some of the bottles from these places normally go for.

The La Vilella Alta Priorat from Black Slate is simply gorgeous!  Lots of plum skins, crushed rocks, and black cherry fruit coupled with a mineral intense attack on the palate, converting into a fruit dense, plush finish.  This wine is highly rated for a reason!    $22/Retail

El Maestro Sierra’s Amontillado Sherry defines the style.  Dry and aromatic, with a little butterscotch intermingled with the concentrated tropical melon and apricot stones up front, and that classic Sherry nutty character gradually becoming more prominent towards the finish!  $27/Retail

See you Friday!!!
