Living
Meet Judy, Steve, & Samantha
Judy and Steve, and their adorable turtle named Samantha, have lived in the Whitaker Ridge neighborhood in Fearrington Village since 2007. Steve is a retired psychiatrist who operates consumer-protection Web sites as a public service. Judy is a retired family physician. They shared a bit about how they came to live in Fearrington and why they love it here:
Our daughter who lives in Chapel Hill thought Fearrington would the perfect choice for us. She was right. Fourteen years ago, when we visited, we were impressed by the beautiful park-like setting, the friendliness of the residents, and how stress-free it would be to design and build a custom home while living 500 miles away. Working with architect John Condoret, it took about a year to plan our dream house and another six months to build it.
Since moving here, we have loved Fearrington’s fitness facilities, its peaceful atmosphere, and the social and educational activities both here and elsewhere in the Triangle. Steve began swimming in the Senior Games and has won many medals—thanks in large part to training at Fearrington’s Duke Center for Living. Judy has revitalized her interest in writing poetry with the poetry club and is working on her first novel.
