Living
Meet Michael and Cheryl
Michael and Cheryl Queen moved to Fearrington Village in 2018 and have been really enjoying the energy of living in a place near college towns with great restaurants, and thriving music scene, and the energetic vibe that comes from the nearby college towns.
What persuaded you to move to Fearrington Village?
We knew we didn’t want to retire in Charlotte and we considered a couple locations outside NC, including the mountains and beaches, before deciding on Fearrington. We had friends in the area, and we loved the vibe and energy of being near college towns, as well as a location that brought us closer to farms and nature, an appreciation of local food, and a music scene. Fearrington brought it all together.
What about the Camden Park neighborhood appealed to you when deciding between Fearrington neighborhoods?
We took our time looking for the right house for us and it’s fair to say we looked in most every neighborhood in Fearrington, as well as considered building (Fitch Creations was incredibly patient with us!) We always loved the convenience and charm of Camden, and we wanted a walkable neighborhood. When we found the house with the size and layout we needed we didn’t think twice!
What do you love most about Fearrington?
We live across from Camden Park and we love the view of the pond, and the incredibly beautiful setting. I love the energy of people walking on the sidewalk past our home. It provides a sense of community and shared space that is invigorating and engaging.
What is one of your most fond memories of living in Fearrington?
We have so many favorite moments and we’ve not been here that long! The first Christmas we celebrated in Fearrington, our son’s family came from Philadelphia. Our granddaughter, not quite 2, wanted to visit the animals on Christmas morning. We walked past McIntyre’s Books and as she held our hands she gasped, then whispered, with a mix of awe and reverence, “chickens.” The magic of Fearrington transcends generations and builds lasting memories.
