May: Rosé and Sparkling Wines!

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Each month here at Fearrington we will be featuring the wines of a specific place or type, throughout all three of the restaurants here in The Village.  At The Goat, all of the wine that we have by the glass will be from that particular month’s focus.

For the month of May everything by the glass will be either pink, bubbly or both!

CASCINETTA VIETTI – Moscato d’Asti l $6/gls

This is bubbly made using the Charmat process, think Prosecco, with lots of fresh, slightly sweet and pear and soft green melon!

PARES BALTA – Brut Cava l $7/gls

Classic Cava, made from the traditional Parellada, Macabeo, Xarel-lo blend.  Crisp, dry, and potentially the most versatile glass of wine ever!

HEIDSIECK & CO. – “Blue Top” Brut Champagne l $12/gls

Slightly richer, a touch more concentration of fruit, leaning on some of the crisp red berry notes you’d find in more Noir and Meunier dominated sparklers.  Great bubbly!

TEGERNSEERHOF – Zweigelt Rosé l $6/gls

This Austrian born Zweigelt rosé smells of strawberries and cherry skins and drinks crisp and dry.  Unassuming and fun to drink!

COMMANDERIE DE PEYRASSOL – Côtes de Provence Rosé l $8/gls

Provence in the south of France is the spiritual home of Rose, with this respresenting the essence of the classics.  Dry, with tart, fresh red berry fruit alongside touches of herbal notes on the nose.

LIOCO – “Indica” Rosé l $9/gls

By far and away one of the bottles I am most excited about here at the Goat!  This is a rosé from old vine Carignan grown in Mendocino County, California.  How cool is that!
