Happy New Year folks! We’re switching things up this weekend and offering a wine & food tasting from Vecchia Torre.
Puglia is the “heel” region of Italy and is considered the bread basket of the country, due to it’s incredible quantity of breads and pastas made in this area. “Taralli” are a common snack food for the peninsula — circular bread sticks similar in texture to a cracker mixed with a pretzel. We just started stocking up The Belted Goat’s grocery shop with two flavors of taralli: fennel or peperoncino (hot chili pepper). Hand-made, these are made by Cantina Vecchia Torre, a coop winery located in the small town of Leverano, just miles away from the sunny, warm beaches along the Ionian Sea. We can’t transport you to the sandy seaside, but we can bring Vecchia Torre’s wines to you. They focus on the traditional varietals of Southern Italy: Vermentino, Primitivo, Negroamaro. Swing by The Belted Goat between 11:30 am – 3:30 pm to taste these wines and try out taralli!
