Wine Class: Columbia Valley & Columbia Gorge AVAs with Sommelier Ryan Aguirre

Price: $50

Many wine lovers have heard of and enjoyed the wines of the Willamette Valley for many years. The opulent, elegant styles of Pinot Noir produced there have rightfully earned their place on the world stage and have appealed to many over the last thirty years. Northeast of Willamette, just a two hour road trip, lies a winegrowing region completely unique from and at odds with the Pinot Noir driven wines we have come to love. As one of very few multi-state AVAs (American Viticulture Areas), the Columbia Valley has gained increasing notoriety over the last decade for producing warm weather varietals that are notably absent in the Willamette Valley. The Cascade Range casts a rain shadow effect over most of eastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon, creating conditions that are conducive to growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Chenin Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, and countless others. Join us as we survey this “off the beaten path” region of production and its quality representations of red and white varietals that rival those produced in other well-known areas.

This class will be held at the Belted Goat. Tickets are $50 per person.
