Meet Eddie & Marva

Eddie & Marva Price have been Fearrington residents since 1979. We asked them what they loved most about living at Fearrington – here’s what they shared about their experience.

What persuaded you to move to Fearrington?
We had a house built in another of RB’s country home neighborhoods and lived there for four years before wandering down to Fearrington one Sunday afternoon to look at the model home here. Our daughter was approaching school age at that time and would attend a private Montessori Day School program in Chapel Hill, so we were looking for a home in Chapel Hill. There were not many new homes on the market during the fall of 1979, so we ventured to Fearrington to look at the new homes. We fell in love with the model home, but, it was already sold. RB assured us that we could have a home just like the model with special features of our choosing. The rest is history. We loved our house then and continue to love our home after living in Fearrington exactly 36 years this November.

What about the Historic District appealed to you when deciding between Fearrington’s neighborhoods?
Believe it or not, when RB built our home, what is now called the Historic District was the only residential part of Fearrington that had been built. There were fewer than 60 homes, and there were no streets beyond what is now the Historic District of Fearrington. The Village had not been developed.

What do you love most about Fearrington?
We love having neighbors, lots of neighbors tucked away across the whole of Fearrington. There are numerous activities to pick and choose to accommodate the lifestyle of younger and older residents.

If you could share one fond memory of Fearrington with someone, what would it be?
It is difficult to pick just one. Ranking pretty high are taking walks throughout the neighborhood on streets and trails, relaxing at the pool, and going over to the Fearrington Inn and Restaurant for the packages for our special occasions with an afternoon tea, three course dinner, overnight, and breakfast. These were special getaways without leaving home.
