Early Spring in the Culinary Garden
Spring has arrived in the Fearrington House culinary garden!
Located on the far western edge of Fearrington Village, past the herb garden, in back of the Fearrington house restaurant, and across the gravel road is our Culinary Garden. Literally over the hill and through the woods a garden grows!
Built around three long abandoned now repurposed hoop houses; the culinary garden features over 50 raised beds and an open 50 x 50ft plot all devoted to growing fresh yummy vegetables for our restaurants. Run by myself, Emily (aka Redheaded Em), and overseen by Executive Chef Colin Bedford, our aim is to grow fresh fun seasonal vegetables and herbs to inspire the pallet. Our early spring crops of greens, brussels sprouts, and garlic are coming up now. Sunchokes, Borage, fava beans, cucamelons and kalettes are coming soon, to name a few!
There is always a project happening, a new planting going in, or a harvest coming in so feel free to ask any questions or just sit and relax on my two quite garden benches and watch it all happen. Hope to see you soon!
