Colin Bedford Cycles for No Kid Hungry
On May 14-16, Fearrington House’s Executive Chef Colin Bedford will once again join a group of chefs from across the country for Chefs Cycle, a 300 mile endurance bike ride to raise money for No Kid Hungry. This annual fundraiser helps raise awareness around the issue of food insecurity that so many people in our communities face. No Kid Hungry hopes to raise $2 million this year, and you can help! Colin took a break from the kitchen to tell us a little more about why he participates in this ride every year…
‘Not only does Chefs Cycle fall into my every day life of riding bikes and Ironman training, it’s a great way to help kids and their families. This charity raises money to feed children who are most vulnerable. I get to be a part of a fixable problem. By bringing awareness to this, I hope we can encourage more people to do their part. Three days of riding bikes and comradery among chefs all with one common goal to end childhood hunger in the US with every pedal stroke. At the end of the day it is not about the 300 miles on the bike, it is all about the journey. This is also a great time personally having to periodically dig deep and to hit the reset button but not forgetting the big picture and why we are all here: to make a difference in the lives of the younger generation of this nation.’
Well said, Colin. Ride on.
