Binge Knitting

At Dovecote, we are always getting in something new! This spring has seen new designers in the shop for everything from shoes to shirts, jewelry to pants, scarves to handbags. So many beautiful artists to choose from, so we have quite the smattering!

New to Dovecote this season is handbag line Binge Knitting. These pieces are handmade in Mexico with quality upcycled fabrics that have been recovered from the garment industry. We love their commitment to sustainability! These bags are hand-knit by women from low income neighborhoods; by purchasing these clutches and totes, you’re supporting these women and the environment. Plus, they’re pretty!

We love the transformation of the leftover materials into almost a yarn that is then knitted together to make one-of-a-kind accessories. “Binge doesn’t believe in waste” and neither does Dovecote. We do, however, believe in transformation, ingenuity, sustainability, and the unique beauty of Binge Knitting.

The original burgundy bookshelves were coated with a cream semigloss, and the room’s walls were meticulously expanded... Full Post >

Anthony and I met through mutual friends while I was studying abroad in the UK. We fell in love during the short time I was there, and so we decided to continue our relationship long distance. Luckily it all worked out for the best, and now he lives here with me in North Carolina! Many people thought we were... Full Post >
