Living
Meet Ann & Chris
Ann & Chris have been Fearrington residents since 2017. We asked them what they loved most about living at Fearrington – here’s what they shared about their experience.
What surprised you most about the building process at Fitch Creations, Inc.?
The Fitch building process used tight construction management and budget review that allowed us to do the project from California. Laura, Paige and Brian guided us through the process and when problems arose they quickly addressed the issues to our satisfaction. Building the new house actually seemed easier than orchestrating the move from California to North Carolina.
What was the hardest decision to make when building?
Buying the lot and deciding on the layout were relatively easy compared to making decisions for the interior, which had to be made from 3000 miles away. Deciding on paint colors had to be the most stressful!
What was the easiest decision to make when building?
Our easiest decision may have been in selecting Fearrington and North Carolina as our retirement house location. While we could have bought or built anywhere in the United States we liked the sense of community that Fearrington gave us from the very first time we visited. The next easiest decision was deciding to enlarge the stock design just a bit to give a more open feel.
What is your favorite room in the house?
We are still in the process of buying new furniture and decorating, but the open concept kitchen/dining room/living room has been a winner. However, we also spend a lot of time on the screened porch checking out the local wildlife.
Describe your home building experience with Fitch Creations Team in one sentence.
The Fitch Team gave us confidence from the start that our house would be completed on time and budget and we were happy to have that trust vindicated when we did the final walk-through five months after breaking ground.
