Wine of the Week [December 22nd – December 28th]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, wonder why Santa drank all of the 1989 Joseph Longen Spatlese that I asked for on Christmas, we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m.

To bubbly or not to bubbly, that is the question!  New Years is just around the corner…its like the third house on the right as you pass the CVS….you know with the yard, yeah and the dogs that won’t stop barking… Well if you are in the mood for celebrating, a glass of bubbly is certainly in order!  Here are a few bottles of sparkling wine that we have waiting for you here at the Goat.

Although this is technically Brut Champagne, this “Carte Noir” from Thierry Triolet is on the sweet end of this classification with the faintest hints of residual sugar gracing the palate of this rather fresh, fruit-forward sparkler!  $33/Retail

One of three houses to incorporate Heidsieck in their name (Charles Heidsieck and Piper-Heidsieck being the others) this is perhaps the best value of the three’s 1st tier offerings.  Slightly richer, a touch more concentration of fruit, leaning on some of the crisp red berry notes you’d find in more Noir and Meunier dominated sparklers.  Great bubbly!  $40/Retail

Fantastic wine from a very talented producer!  This lively white balances its lean citrus and super crisp apple fruit with a breaded richness, making this an incredibly good match with fried seafood or any other hors d’oeuvres that may be floating around.  More is better, right!  This magnum (double bottle) cuts an impressive figure next to the standard 750ml bottle and sets the stage for a grand celebration!  Cheers!  $50/Retail

See you Friday!!!
