Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts! Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, bring things like a personal wine glass, pH test strips, and mass spectrometers to wine tastings “for the complete experience,” we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m.
There’s not going to be much of a theme or connecting piece for this week’s wine other than the fact that they’re both from two rather underplayed wine areas in the world and that they are seriously good! Domaine Sigalas, whose Assyrtiko-Athiri blend will be the white wine for this week, got its start in the early 90’s and has been producing award winning wine ever since. Suertes del Marques is making waves with their 7 Fuentes red blend of Listan Negro and Tintilla. Usually the waves that come our way from the Canary Islands are tropical waves, which tend to produce some rather large hurricanes, so it’s nice to see they’re trying to balance the bad with something we can enjoy.
Domaine Sigalas’ Assyrtiko-Athiri blend takes two indigenous Greek grapes and turns them into a world class white that’s rich with ripe citrus and a clean, refreshing
Suertes del Marques’ 7 Fuentes is an elegant red blend from the Canary Islands/ Supple dark fruit and the slightest hints of dried rosemary make this the perfect companion to that Italiano sandwich you’re getting for lunch!
See you Friday!!!
