Lynne Rossetto Kasper Returns!
On Saturday, December 10th at 11am, McIntyre's Books is thrilled welcome Lynne Rossetto Kasper back to The Fearrington Barn, to discuss The Splendid Table's How To Eat Weekends! For the fans who tune in to public radio's The Splendid Table each week and for those whose copies of The Splendid Table's How to Eat Supper are now happily stained and dog-eared; and for home cooks of all levels looking for an excuse to slow down and spend some weekend time enjoying themselves in the kitchen, Lynne Rossetto Kasper and Sally Swift present an homage to the pure art of cooking.

Lynne Rossetto Kasper is host and co-creator of The Splendid Table radio program. She has explored food for more than 40 years as a teacher, researcher, writer, and lecturer. She's received both the James Beard and Julia Child/IACP Cookbook of the Year awards. McIntyre's Books will have plenty of copies available at the event!

A very special book launch event
On Thursday, January 5th from 6pm to 7:30pm we are delighted to host the national launch for Doc Hendley's powerful new book Wine to Water: A Bartender's Quest to Bring Clean Water to the World. In addition to a few words from Doc Hendley about his book and the Wine to Water organization, this memorable evening will also feature a wine sampling, a selection of craft breads from Fearrington's bakers, a selection of gourmet olive oils from Blue Sky Oil and Vinegar, music by The Boys From Carolina, and a raffle drawing with top prizes of an overnight stay at the Fearrington House, two seats in a wine class at the Fearrington Granary, and a case of Wine to Water wines.

Tickets are $35 per person and include a copy of the book, refreshments, wine tasting, and entry into the raffle. A portion of ticket prices and book sales by McIntyre's Books also will be donated to Wine to Water. Wine Class: Spanish wines!
Wine Director Max Kast's popular series of wine classes at The Fearrington Granary continues on Thursday, December 8th with a class dedicated to the wines of Spain. Max says: "since we are in the holiday season and everybody is thinking of what wine to pair with traditional fare, we will look at the diversity of Spanish wines, and why they are the perfect fit for a winter table. From a lively Cava, to the great whites of Galicia, the smooth and ethereal reds of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, and the Sweet wines of Jumilla and Malaga, Spain is its own world of wine." $45, includes tax, gratuity, and light hors d'oeuvres. Chef Bedford has announced the culinary class schedule for 2012! The roster includes new topics like Sous Vide Cooking as well as returning favorites like The Grilling Class. It's Time Again to welcome Donald Davis
Once again, McIntyre's Books presents Holiday Storytelling with Donald Davis! In light of last year's record attendance, Donald has graciously agreed to host two events this year, on Saturday, December 17th (11am) and Sunday, December 18th (2pm), so everyone is able to come and hear him spin his tales. Davis has been visiting for over 20 years now and is one of the foremost storytellers in the country. Instead of admission, we ask that our guests donate cans of food which will be given to Chatham County's CORA group (Chatham Outreach Alliance). For more information, call (919) 542-3030.
