Proudly an independent bookstore since 1989, McIntyre’s Books offers a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction, with an emphasis on cooking, gardening, mystery and local authors.

Since Keebe Fitch opened McIntyre’s, we’ve hosted one of the largest author events programs in the South. Our event program includes weekly author readings and seasonal event series, such as Cooks & Books or Books & Beer.

McIntyre’s is located in Fearrington Village near Chapel Hill, NC. Drop by for a book recommendation from our seasoned staff or just to browse. We hope you’ll stay in touch by signing up for our weekly email updates, “liking” us on Facebook or following us on Twitter.

Well, it’s official because I think I have seen nearly every bookstore in the world now (not really, but it feels that way) and your place is truly one of the most magical bookstores I have ever seen. It’s like the Willy Wonka dreamscape of bookstores.  The selection, the ambience, the fireplace, the sofa, the nooks and crannies. Thank you for hosting me there on the eve of the winter storm. It was such a riot of an evening. Your readers are wonderful, generous, and courageous people. Thank you, thank you.

The staff and their personal recommendations are worth the trip. I liked the handwritten notes tucked into many of the books on their shelves.
