Mary Margaret & Alex

Mary Margaret and Alex tied the knot on April 5, 2014. They held their ceremony at Fearrington’s Willow Oaks and celebrated their “I dos” in The Fearrington Barn!

How did y’all meet?

We met through mutual friends while living in D.C. on Good Friday, after both getting stuck in the city for Easter weekend. A blessing in disguise!

Tell us about the engagement?

Alex proposed on the beach two years later in Emerald Isle, NC on Good Friday!

What made Fearrington the place for you to say “I do?”

Fearrington was the first venue we visited after getting engaged, and we knew instantly it was perfect for us. It was early April, and the entire village was in full bloom. The Fearrington Gardens are hands down the most enchanting setting for a Spring wedding. On top of that, we both graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, and loved the fact that our family and friends would get to enjoy the charming college town of Chapel Hill!

Describe one of the highlight moments of your wedding day.

I’ll never forget the melodic sound of birds singing loudly and the feeling of warm sunshine on my face as we exchanged vows in the gardens at Willow Oaks. It was the happiest moment of my life. I remember marveling at the almost surreal perfection of it all: the beautiful weather, the rustic elegance of Fearrington, the beloved friends and family surrounding us, the welcoming first signs of springtime, and most importantly standing before the most genuinely amazing man I’ve ever met, the love of my life who is now my husband.

Anything you want to add about your wedding story?

We are so grateful to Cheryl-Anne Kast, who was responsible for the seamless orchestration of our wedding day. Thank you to everyone who helped make our wedding the joyous celebration that it was! If only we could rewind and do it all over again. Thank you Heba Salama Photography for capturing these first moments of our union as husband and wife, so that we can relive the precious memories through photos for years to come!
