Basketball
While the Triangle region of North Carolina is most famous for its
college basketball, the area is also home to an outstanding
professional NBA basketball team, The Charlotte Bobcats. This
relatively new team played its first official game in November, 2004
and has gone on to have great success, attracting some of the
sport's most talented young athletes. The Bobcats play in the 18,500
seat Charlotte Bobcats Arena in uptown Charlotte, NC.

Ice Hockey
The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team and one
of five teams in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of
the National Hockey League (NHL). The club plays at the RBC Center
in Raleigh, North Carolina. Formerly the Whalers, the team was
relocated to North Carolina in 1997 where they became the Carolina
Hurricanes. Since then, the team has gone all the way to win the Stanley
Cup in 2006.

Football
In addition to the outstanding college football teams in the central
region of North Carolina, the state is also the proud home of The
Carolina Panthers NFL team. Formed in October 1993, the team plays
in Charlotte, NC in the Bank of America Stadium. This open-air
sports arena houses 73,298 seats.

Baseball
Durham, North Carolina is home to one of the countries newest and
best baseball stadiums, The Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Opened in
1995, the park houses 10,000 seats and is the home of the Durham
Bulls, a professional baseball team that recently celebrated its
100th anniversary.

Horse Racing
The Brookhill Steeplechase has long been the up and coming event of
the Triangle, catering to crowds of fifteen plus thousand on the
first Saturday of May. The event takes place at Brookhill Farm,
where spectators from all over gather in private tents, tailgate
spaces and on the lawn to take part in the excitement. The Brookhill
Steeplechase takes place on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Brookhill Farms
in Clayton, NC.

Stock Car Racing
In Concord, North Carolina, less than three hours drive from
Fearrington, resides one of the most modern race tracks in the
nation – The Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Three NASCAR Nextel Cup Series
events, two NASCAR Busch Series races and a NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series event are among the major events held on the 1.5-mile
superspeedway.
