 New Resident Spotlight: Joan Madren
We caught up with future
resident Joan Madren at the walk-through of
her new home in
McDowell Place to hear what
brought her to Fearrington, and to find out about her
experience building with
Fitch Creations.
"I left my childhood home of Winston-Salem in 1970 and
traveled to 8 different duty stations as a
military wife. After finally arriving back on the
east coast, I longed to return to North Carolina.
three years ago, I saw a Fearrington ad in the
Smithsonian magazine and decided to visit and
just see what they had to offer.
My
first visit was very enjoyable and informative.
Before returning to my home in Burke, Virginia, I
had chosen a homesite with the thoughts of building
my retirement home.
In February 2011, I met with the construction team
and began the process of designing my house. Every
member of the team worked with me to customize my
house and allay my apprehensions as the process
began.
Paige and
Laura seemed to have the answers to
my questions before they were voiced.
My new home is close to completion and I have to say
that the entire team has been creative and
supportive in creating the ideal home for me." -
