With a mild climate that includes four distinct seasons without extremes, outdoor activities such as golf, walking and biking are possible year-round.
Our Goats and Belties
We’re located in Chatham County on a former dairy farm with pastures containing our beloved Belted Galloway cows. Chatham County has one of the lowest crime rates in North Carolina (we’re also right across the street from a fire station). With a short half hour drive to Raleigh-Durham International Airport, where eight major airlines offer service to nearly 40 non-stop domestic and international destinations daily. North Carolina’s world-famous beaches and mountains are both less than a three hour drive away.
Health Care Options
The hospitals at nearby Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill are ranked among the best in the country. Enjoy top rated health care right here at Fearrington with the Duke Health Clinic. For short-term health concerns, the innovative not-for-profit Fearrington Cares lends a hand. Galloway Ridge at Fearrington also allows residents to stay in the community as their needs change overtime.
With three world-class universities in the Triangle, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, North Carolina State University and Wake Forest University, lifelong education is readily available. Fearrington’s own independent bookstore also hosts well over one hundred author events annually.
Polk Place, UNC-Chapel Hill
Children in the Fearrington community attend Chatham County Public Schools, including via lottery system, the recently opened Woods Charter School located across the street from Fearrington. Local parochial and private school options include Durham Academy (P-12), St. Thomas Moore School (P-8), Carolina Friends School (P-12), the Montessori School (P-6), the Community Independent School (P-5), and the Emerson Waldorf School (P-8).
Cultural Activities & Outdoor Recreation
From museums to performing art venues to lifelong learning opportunities, the Triangle is enriched with countless ways to feed the mind. There are dozens of arts institutions, with many expanding just within the past five years. Nearby museums (all within an hour’s drive) include Ackland Art Museum, the North Carolina Museum of Art and The Nasher Museum of Art. Looking for performing arts venues within thirty minutes? Look no further than PlayMakers Repertory Company, Carolina Performing Arts, Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) and the American Dance Festival.
North Carolina Botanical Garden
Discover fresh local produce at our Farmer’s Market, tour breath-taking gardens, spend a relaxing day at a nearby lake or park, or play a round of golf at one of the many exceptional links nearby. We suggest exploring Carolina Tiger Rescue, The American Tobacco Trail, Jordan Lake and The North Carolina Zoo. Duke Gardens, the North Carolina Botanical Gardens and J.C. Raulston Arboretum.
