organic farmer, and other members of the team and learn how it takes
a Village to consistently deliver at the highest service levels in
the hospitality industry.
Interact with the team that has kept The Fearrington House one of a handful of independent properties in
the U.S. to have consistently earned Five Diamonds for both
lodging and dining by the American Automobile Association. Please
join us for this special for this special weekend! From $575 per
couple, based on choice of accommodations. This package also
includes a $25 gift card to the Shops at Fearrington.

September 11th
2pm to 3pm: Check-in at Inn Reception
3pm: Special English Afternoon Tea service in The Garden
House, with Champagne to celebrate our 30th Anniversary
milestone. Hear brief introductory comments and meet members
of the "Behind the Scenes" team, including General Manager
Theresa Chiettini.
After tea, Executive Chef Colin Bedford will welcome
guests to join him in the kitchen for a guided tour. He will discuss
his background and role here, how the kitchen functions, introduce
some of his chefs, talk about how he maintains AAA Five Diamond
standards, our Green Certified status with the Green Restaurant
Association, our farm-to-fork program, menu development, and other
topics.
Sommelier and Wine Director Maximilian Kast will then
discuss
our wine program, our unique Wine Maker Dinners, wine pairing decisions, tips for how to select
wines, and wine trends in the U.S.
Evening: Four-course dinner with wine pairings at The Fearrington House at a time of your
choosing. |

September 12th
Morning: Breakfast at The Fearrington House
10am: Tour of Fearrington Gardens with Wendy Moses, Master
Gardener. Tour the renowned and extensive gardens that have been
such an integral part of Fearrington House's identity. Wendy will
then take guests to the kitchen garden to meet organic farmer Anne
Stomp.
Anne will discuss our farm-to-fork program, the kitchen gardens at
Fearrington and what she grows on her own farm to supplement them,
and how she works closely with executive chef Colin Bedford in
shaping the restaurant's menu.
12pm: Check-out Afternoon: Guests are welcome
to explore the property, enjoy lunch at The Fearrington Granary, browse the
shops, and visit with our Belted Galloway cows for the afternoon.

Meet Your Hosts
Colin
Bedford is Executive Chef at The Fearrington House Restaurant. A
native of southwest England, he earned a Diploma in Hospitality at
Yeovil College in Somerset. He then apprenticed at a nearby Michelin
Star hotel before moving to Ontario, Canada in 2000 to work at the
Prince of Wales Hotel, one of Canada's top hotels. Colin came to
Fearrington House in 2005 as Executive Sous Chef and was promoted to
Executive Chef in 2008. Colin maintains the Fearrington House's
commitment to Farm to Table cuisine through his unique collaboration
with Dr. Anne Stomp and also writes regular blog entries under
"Notes From The Kitchen", in CHATTER, Fearrington’s blog.
Maximilian
Kast, Fearrington House’s Sommelier and Wine Director, studied
history at the University of Montana but soon realized that the
relationship between food and wine was his true passion. Max became
Wine Director at Triple Creek Ranch, a Relais & Chateaux property in
Montana, in 2005. He moved to Fearrington House in 2007. Max changes
the 800 label wine list regularly to match the seasonal changes of
Chef Colin Bedford’s menu and oversees our popular Wine Maker Dinner
series. He has continued Fearrington House’s run as a Wine Spectator
Best of Award of Excellence, an honor received every year since
2004, and is regularly quoted in the wine media.
Wendy Moses has been a gardener at Fearrington since 2005 and
maintains the gardens around The Fearrington House Country Inn.
Gardens in her care
including the White Garden, the Sun Terrace, the Inn Courtyard and
Inn Reception. She has a special horticultural passion for native
plants, edible and fragrant plants, and anything out of her
grandmothers’ gardens! Before she came to Fearrington, Wendy was a garden designer in the
Midwest and a landscape architect in nearby Raleigh, North Carolina. Wendy has a Masters in
Landscape Architecture from NC State University and an undergraduate
degree from Indiana University at South Bend.
Dr.
Anne Stomp is Fearrington’s organic farmer. She maintains the
kitchen gardens behind The Fearrington House Restaurant, and she and
her husband own Duckwood Farm, a nearby farm which supplements
produce grown here. With a BS in Food Science and Nutrition and a
PhD in Plant Science, she deploys her academic training and curious
mind to test dozens of vegetables and fruit cultivars from around
the world for their suitability to central North Carolina. She works
closely with Chef Bedford in developing the menu incorporating the
most exceptional produce at its peak of freshness. Anne also finds
time to teach at NC State University! Due to the interactive nature of this package, space is limited so
