Carol Owen will teach you to create an altered book in this class of play and discovery, set on the beautiful grounds of award winning Fearrington House Inn. Altered books give new life to old books that might otherwise be discarded. They can transform memories and artifacts beyond a scrapbook to a work of art.
There are no rules, just limitless possibilities with each new turn of the page. The techniques are simple and use readily available materials. No artistic experience is necessary. We will explore the interactive possibilities of pop-ups, windows, niches, drawers, pockets, covers, and more, using paints, dyes, stencils, and rubber stamps.
You will complete your own altered book as well as a reference book of techniques. You will never look at an old book the same way again!
Fearrington Village is the perfect place to relax. Let your creativity bloom in the midst of the splendor of flowering trees and gardens. All meals are part of your package, including dinner at the Forbes Five-Star Fearrington House Restaurant. Join us Monday, April 7th to Friday, April 10th.
