6-8 p.m. | The Fearrington Granary
Stop by The Fearrington Granary Gallery and take a look at the many faces of Cherie Westmoreland’s art. Cherie’s work will be on display at the Gallery through the end of September. Stop by from 6-8pm for light refreshments, a visit with Cherie, and live music by her son, guitarist John Westmoreland.
Here is how Cherie describes her work, “I have always loved the process of creation, whether in the making of art, the design of a garden, even the preparation of a meal. My process is improvisational; only rarely do I begin a piece with a clear vision of how it will look when completed. I create handbuilt sculptures, face pots, tiles, and wall art for indoor and garden display. My photographic image transfers incorporate photographs I have taken and often elements from old family photos, sometimes collaged in Photoshop to create dreamlike sequences, fired onto stoneware, often with additional use of underglazes and mason stains. My work incorporates recurrent figural images, faces, birds (particularly crows), vines, ferns, trees, fish, textures, and colors from nature.”
