Bittersweet Designs offers up a bit of contradiction. Each piece is a sophisticated interplay of old and new, nature and glamour, relaxed charm and elegant fantasy. Designer Laurie Lenfestey pays loving homage to the passage of time by using vintage elements with a decided patina, expressed with a fresh, unconventional voice. Like the women who wear them, each piece is beautiful, nuanced, and sophisticated, but with a playful spirit.

Each piece of jewelry from Bittersweet Designs is singular and unique, as they are all hand-made in Laurie’s gallery in Santa Fe. Many ingredients are layered and interwoven in each piece: Semi-Precious Stones, Vintage Czech Glass, Freshwater Pearls in soothing grays and warm champagne hues, Sterling Chains, Vintage Glass Buttons, and Ethnic Additions, such as Milagros, Ethiopian Crosses and Telsums. Laurie adds the unexpected to the expected with each creation, in a layered collage of treasures. The result is a line that is elegant and free-spirited, with a subdued bohemian flair.
