Spread out over the picturesque village, each of The Fearrington House Inn's 32 rooms and suites has a distinct design and character, yet all are outfitted with luxe touches such as original Southern artwork, fresh flowers, a complimentary mini-bar, and other outstanding amenities like a decanter of port placed by your bedside at turndown.
There are countless details that go into creating the relaxing and rejuvenating environment that the guests of The Fearrington House Inn know and love. From the beautifully crafted throw pillows and Kingsdown feather mattress pillow tops on the beds, to the hand-laid heated tiles that warm your feet in the bathrooms, to the beautiful gardens surrounding the Inn rooms, to the chocolate truffles that polish off an exquisite meal at The Fearrington House Restaurant. It's early on a weekend morning in April and the sun has already warmed the spot on the terrace at The Fearrington House Restaurant, where you've chosen to enjoy the day's first cup of coffee. A gentle breeze stirs fragrance from the canopy of wisteria blooms surrounding you, and you settle back to listen to the birdsong lilting through the gardens and savor the beginnings of what you know will be a perfect day.
As vibrant and beautiful as the gardens at Fearrington are throughout the... Full Post >

When the temperature drops there are a few things that become necessities: scarves, hats, mittens, wool socks and my morning cup of coffee. The way a warm cup of coffee warms me up and awakens my senses prepares me for the activities of the day. Throughout the year, Fearrington Village is enveloped in that same aroma of freshly roasted coffee. In the winter the aroma is more powerful and even more welcoming. When I sense that smell I know our coffee roaster Julian Vargas is busy at work at... Full Post >

Let's just say it, there are a lot of wineries that claim that they are the best (in their region, of all producers, of a certain grape varietal, etc). The idea of "the best" is, as I think we can all agree, largely subjective. Now, when we talk of a wine which is in and of itself completely different than anything else, I think that the classification "the best" no longer does that wine justice. How can you compare a wine so unique to others? When I speak about the wines of Ted Lemon from his... Full Post >

As excited as we are to see visitors at Fearrington out strolling the gardens, we also truly love to have them enjoy the peaceful beauty of Fearrington by just sitting and relaxing in a garden! With that in mind, we have created several new areas in the Village for our guests to unwind. Nearly everyone is familiar with the iconic white Adirondacks in front of The Fearrington House, but now there are two spots in the nearby shade of the Garden Terrace to discover!
Other locations include just... Full Post >

Now that summer has arrived we certainly are feeling the heat here in central North Carolina! With the temperatures reaching near 90 degrees the past few weeks, many are looking for relief from the sun and humidity. What some might not know is that besides our outdoor pool we offer to Fearrington House Inn guests, we also have complimentary bikes as well as plenty of shaded trails within our community. What better way to stay active (and cool!) than with a bike ride or walk through one of... Full Post >
This past May I took one of my bi-annual trips to California. I love California -- the wine, food, natural beauty and diverse culture is an ever-beckoning call to visit.
As a Sommelier I am fortunate enough to have visited many times, and have gotten to know Sonoma and Napa Valley in a very in-depth way. However, all of the trips I have taken in the past were group oriented, and everything needed to be on a tight schedule, and, most importantly, I had no choice over which wineries I... Full Post >
