Fitch Creations, Inc. is proud to share that Fearrington Village is now a certified Bird Friendly Habitat at the highest level by the New Hope Audubon Society.
In September, New Hope Audubon visited with Ryan Caldwalader, Fearrington's arborist and gardener, and Laura Morgan, General Manager for Real Estate and New Construction at Fearrington, to showcase the village's features to attract bird-friendly habitats.
The New Hope Audubon Society noted that Fearrington has installed numerous... Full Post >

While this picture may look like two people relaxing on a bench on our Creekwood Trail, if you could see an enlarged version, you would note that both Mark and I are hold planting trowels in our right hands! We planted 50 spice bushes, a native plant know to attract birds and specifically, the Wood Thrush, along the trail. The Wood Thrush is one of five birds the NC Audubon Society is currently focusing on increasing their population. Once established, the spice bush will have small red... Full Post >
For the second year in a row I had the good fortune to travel and spend a week in Haiti in a little village named Cite Soleil. Cite Soleil is known for its dense population and extreme poverty. I travel with a group of fellow nurses, doctors, and construction crews as well as missionary workers.
We provided the community with much needed health care ranging from basic medicines, such as aspirin and vitamins, to more pressing needs such as antibiotics and first aid care for severe wounds and... Full Post >

Blue skies and 68 degrees – we could have not asked for better weather on our 7:30am bird walk this past Saturday. Around 20 folks joined and while most of us were novice bird watchers, we looked like the real thing with binoculars and sun hats – perhaps my large cup of coffee from The Goat gave us away! Not sure what was the best part, seeing a migrating Red Start Wobbler (cute little orange guy) or walking around the beautiful gardens or Fearrington with a bunch of other folks who... Full Post >

What better way to celebrate Earth Day (officially tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22, 2015) than by supporting a local farmer's market?
The Fearrington Farmer's Market is excited to be in its 25th year and even more excited that Earth Day is celebrating it 45th anniversary! Our local farmers show up every week, rain or shine, beside the Fitch Creation Sales Office to provide fresh produce, meat and treats for residents and neighbors.
See you this afternoon!

A few weeks ago, when the low here in North Carolina was 6° and the high was 21°, Paige, Brian, Greg and I were all fortunate enough to be visiting sunny California. Now in California, the low was 60° and the daily high 75° -- not too shabby! Luckily, now we are in the 70s or else you would have stopped reading this immediately.
So why were we across the country? We were on a fact finding mission of sorts, seeing homes and gathering information about some of the latest building trends.... Full Post >
The International home builder’s show was HUGE this year – a good sign for the economic rebound! The most common theme revolved around 3 words – kitchens and baths. Quartz is in, stainless steel appliances are still in and faucets/fixtures come in at least 8 different finishes. Grey is the color of choice and lighting options are incredible. Energy efficiency still remains a big player and overall low maintenance “green” products are a must. After 20+ miles of walking, Paige... Full Post >
