Flowers at Fearrington

Summer is in full effect here at Fearrington! The Gardens are absolutely gorgeous and filled with blooming flowers and lush greenery. It makes it hard to stay away and not to pick anything! On a  tour of the gardens  with a  couple this weekend we bumped into Mary Stevens, our very talented Floral designer. Mary had a basket filled with fresh cuttings from the gardens to create centerpieces for weddings and special events this weekend. It instantly made me happy and... Full Post >

Ceremony Music with a Bit of Whimsy

With all due respect to our old favorites Pachelbel’s Canon in D and Clark’s Trumpet Voluntary, it’s fun to have some ceremony music that makes the guests laugh a bit.  A touch of unexpected music can be the perfect start to what’s sure to be a festive celebration. This evening our dashing groom and groomsmen modestly walked in to the ceremony to the tune of “What a Man,” as the delighted crowd cheered them on.  Our fabulous bride last night paused before walking down the aisle... Cutting Gardens

Our new perennial cutting garden beds are in full bloom! Built this past January, the beds are full of favorites that will produce until first frost. Upkeep on the beds with fresh topsoil 10 inches deep has been minimal, few weeds lush growth, and no need for watering. Mary and the florist gals harvest in here regularly. Flowers and leaves are used around the village in various arrangements, wedding and party decorations, and bride and groom bouquet and boutonnieres. Come visit! Full Post >

Cole and his Mom

It’s a pretty special thing when a 6 year old boy gets to walk his mom down the aisle, then dance with her at her wedding. What a future this young man will have! I wish this wonderful family all the very best. Full Post >

Intimate Wedding in Jenny’s Garden

Last night I had the pleasure of being a part of a very special wedding. With Jenny's garden and the setting sun as a back drop Elizabeth and Scott said "I do" with eight of their closest family and friends. The sweet ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour with champagne and hors d'oeuvres on the Sun Terrace and an intimate dinner in RB's Private Dining Room in the Fearrington House Restaurant. A beautiful evening for a very special couple! I wish only the best for them! Full Post >

Amazing Azaleas!

Yes, these gardens continue to amaze us.  Last week was the one week of the year that the azaleas in front of the Fearrington House bloom and they were especially spectacular this year. This particular location is not typically a wedding site, but how could you resist having a wedding here that week?  It’s so nice to be able to have the flexibility on these incredible grounds to change plans at the last minute and take full appreciation of the beauty that surrounds us. And Suzy and... Full Post >

Spring Peonies by the Fire

It’s rare that you get to enjoy Spring's glorious peonies beside a roaring fire, but this weekend’s cool spell gave us such a nice opportunity.  When the temperature dropped and the clouds threatened, we quickly moved the garden ceremony into the Garden Terrace.  Tori and Zack got to celebrate a beautiful spring ceremony in front of a cozy wood fire.  It was lovely.  It’s such a relief it is that we don’t have to worry a bit about what the weather may bring to our outdoor... April Showers

April was a glorious month for weddings – 70 degrees and no April Showers...until April 28th. We had a rainy day that Sunday, but I am happy to report that the weather didn't dampen anyone’s spirits! We always work with a good alternate weather plan, so that day we moved into the Garden House for Kirsti and Scott’s beautiful wedding.  After being together for 14 years now, the happy married couple skipped down the aisle to the tune of “Here Comes the Sun” and headed out... Peonies!

This morning my day was made as I entered the flower shop and was greeted by bright coral peonies! Every year I look forward to May when these beauties are blooming in our gardens and most brides use them in their bouquets and centerpieces. To me as a wedding planner, peonies are the ultimate romantic, soft flower for weddings and just plain gorgeous! The coral ones are my favorite; they start off bright and happy and with time turn a pale yellow. Just amazing! Full Post >
