Sweet Intimate Wedding

There is nothing more special to me than seeing two people commit to one another in front of their closest family and friends. This past month we hosted a sweet intimate wedding in Jenny's Garden for Jim and Nasrin. It was a cool winter's day but the sun was out and the couples love for one another made for a gorgeous day! The ceremony was followed by an afternoon tea in our Sunroom and dinner at The Fearrington House Restaurant. Nasrin and Jim we wish you only the best. Happy 2014! Full Post >

What an Honor!

After being together for 18 years, Bill and Martie were married in the privacy of their beautiful Fearrington Inn room on a December afternoon.  The ceremony was just the two of them, conducted by our dear friend Dr. John Oliver.  Since there were no attendants or guests, photographer extraordinaire Krystal Kast and I got to be the witnesses.  It was such a sweet, meaningful ceremony and a tremendous honor for me to get to sign their marriage license for them. It was also a really nice... Full Post >

Reflecting on the Holiday Season!

We had a busy and beautiful holiday season at Fearrington! Even though Christmas and the holidays are a distant memory to some, we are still reflecting on what made us happy. We hosted beautiful events in the Barn and the Christmas trees lining the Barn hallway bought smiles to many faces! I loved all the little details Maggie and Neil added to their Christmas themed wedding on December 14th. They did Christmas right! We wish you all the best Mr. and Mrs. Kern! Full Post >

Personal Touches

Wedding trends are certainly fun -- we all eagerly await the newest issue of Martha, too -- but it's the personal touches that make all the difference to me.  We see so many thoughtful, really meaningful, additions to weddings and those are the details that really stand out in my memory. Today's bride's family has spent hundreds of hours carefully folding these Japanese origami cranes to hang from the ceiling in the Barn halway and to give as favors to guests. I can only imagine the... Full Post >

Time of our Lives!

A couples first dance is always a very special part of their wedding day. Lisa and Dan surprised their guests with a fun, upbeat first dance. They kept guests entertained with an amazing performance by "Time of Our Lives" from Dirty Dancing the movie. It was so sweet and represents this fun couple and their love for one another so well. We wish you many more fun, happy years together! Full Post >

Nails and Champagne

Relax and unwind with the girls the day before your wedding at The Spa at Fearrington. Enjoy luxury or classic manicures and pedicures whilst sipping on a glass of bubbly in our tranquil, semi-private mani/pedi room. A wonderful way to reconnect  and thank your bridesmaids for being part of your special day! Full Post >

Ancient Southern Secret

Old Southern Tradition – who knew?! I was recently introduced to an old Southern wedding tradition that I think will come in handy throughout the wedding season. I am told that if you bury a bottle of bourbon at the site of your wedding it guarantees that it will not rain on your wedding day.  Added bonus is that you have a bottle of bourbon in the end! I think this is a fine practice.  Fearrington Brides –- please take note!  It can’t hurt! Full Post >

50 Years Just Married!

There is nothing sweeter than seeing a couple that has been married for 50 years, who are still as in love as the day they met! This past Saturday, the Moellering siblings reinvented their parents wedding that took place 50 years ago. Everything was as it was on their wedding day, cake, flowers and even 50 notes for every year they have spent together. Here's to many happy years together and more to come! Full Post >

Fall Scarves as Favors

We loved Paige and Jeff's plaid scarves they handed out to guests as favors at their wedding. The scarves came in three different colors and were a great touch to a fall wedding -- a perfect way to keep warm with an evening chill. The couple even wore their a matching pair for their introduction to the reception as the new Mr. and Mrs. Wilber! Full Post >

New at Dovecote: Gentlemen’s Collection

My favorite new stop on my wedding tour of Fearrington is the brand new men’s collection at Dovecote.  We’ve been spending a lot of time in that corner lately...who says men don’t like to shop?! Dovecote has a fine new stock of Collared Greens ties and cumberbunds that I think are the perfect fun, stylish new option for groomsmen for Fearrington’s outdoor weddings. They have fabulous colors in stripes and polka dots that would go with any bride’s choice of wedding colors.  You... Full Post >
