Yes, these gardens continue to amaze us. Last week was the one week of the year that the azaleas in front of the Fearrington House bloom and they were especially spectacular this year. This particular location is not typically a wedding site, but how could you resist having a wedding here that week? It’s so nice to be able to have the flexibility on these incredible grounds to change plans at the last minute and take full appreciation of the beauty that surrounds us. And Suzy and... Full Post >
It’s rare that you get to enjoy Spring's glorious peonies beside a roaring fire, but this weekend’s cool spell gave us such a nice opportunity. When the temperature dropped and the clouds threatened, we quickly moved the garden ceremony into the Garden Terrace. Tori and Zack got to celebrate a beautiful spring ceremony in front of a cozy wood fire. It was lovely. It’s such a relief it is that we don’t have to worry a bit about what the weather may bring to our outdoor... Full Post >
April was a glorious month for weddings – 70 degrees and no April Showers...until April 28th. We had a rainy day that Sunday, but I am happy to report that the weather didn't dampen anyone’s spirits! We always work with a good alternate weather plan, so that day we moved into the Garden House for Kirsti and Scott’s beautiful wedding. After being together for 14 years now, the happy married couple skipped down the aisle to the tune of “Here Comes the Sun” and headed out... Full Post >
This morning my day was made as I entered the flower shop and was greeted by bright coral peonies! Every year I look forward to May when these beauties are blooming in our gardens and most brides use them in their bouquets and centerpieces. To me as a wedding planner, peonies are the ultimate romantic, soft flower for weddings and just plain gorgeous! The coral ones are my favorite; they start off bright and happy and with time turn a pale yellow. Just amazing! Full Post >
I am asked all the time what my favorite ceremony site is, and I honestly say that I like them all best at different times, depending on what the gardens are doing. Our gardens are fabulous all the time, but each week one of them seems to have its special moment right then. Every week I find myself thinking "What a lucky bride to have THIS site for her wedding"... we are so fortunate to have such a spectacular setting for our weddings throughout the year. This week, the Crabapples are... Full Post >
I was always a Daddy’s Girl, so it’s natural that I have a weakness for Fathers of the Bride on their little girls’ Big Day. So touching… I had a wonderful surprise recently that absolutely made my day. A very sweet and proud father of a bride who was married with us last August popped in to say hello, reminisce and thank us once again for being part of his family’s special day. He instantly brought great cheer to a rainy afternoon. Yes, I do have a fun job – I love being... Full Post >
We have a Mac computer in our office that is full of fabulous photos compiled into slideshow. I enjoy seeing what images pop up as I walk by -– always fun memories! I particularly love the photo of Dee’s bouquet that our wonderful floral designer, Mary Stevens, did a couple of years ago. Dee was a sweetheart, getting married the second time and loving every minute of the planning, which of course made it fun for us, too. Dee told Mary that she especially wanted violets in her... Whether it's an intimate wedding or a larger group our gardens are the perfect place for an outdoor ceremony! One of my favorite gardens this time of the year in the Dovecote Lawn. The sweet smell of the fragrant blooming wisteria, friendly pops of blooming tulips in the surrounding flower beds and the amazing blooming cherry blossom tree make this site the perfect back drop for a spring ceremony! It's no wonder that Spring is the most magical time of the year to get married! Full Post >
Fearrington Weddings, In Our Gardens
While the past few weeks may have still been blustery and cold outside, within the cozy confines of our glass greenhouse the gardeners at Fearrington have been busy planning--and planting!--for warmer weather. Flats of seeds have been prepared and are being eagerly checked on daily for signs of growth. New cultivars that we are particularly excited about include ornamental peppers "Tangerine Dream" and "Hot Lemon", which our gardener Donna will add to the gardens surrounding the Granary, and... I have had the pleasure recently of looking at a lot of Krystal Kast’s work, and she simply amazes me. What a talent! She has a great eye and always seems to capture the moment with the perfect mix of creative artistry, classic style and sensitivity to the occasion. She has great skill at anticipating fun moments of the party, so her candid shots are wonderful. And she’s just so lovely that you want to have her around all the time! Take a look at some of her work: ... Full Post >
