Wine of the Week [September 26th - October 2nd]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, spend way too much time thinking up corny wine jokes (What's a horse's favorite grape?.... Chardo-Neighhh!!), we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m. Bordeaux.  The very mention of... Wine of the Week [September 19th - September 25th]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, grow a freckle whenever someone says they hate Riesling (Blasphemy!), we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m. Ah, there is a nip in the morning air as of late. Wine of the Week [September 12 - September 18]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, force house guests to perform a timed, oral blind tasting of any wine served and refuse to entertain any who cannot correctly identify the variety and the vintage within +/-1 year, we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available... My Favorite Place in Fearrington

Roost is my favorite place in all of Fearrington Village. It really and truly is. You can enjoy an amazing dinner at the "perfect for special occasions" Fearrington House or delicious casual "comfort food any time" at The Granary. You can stroll the beautiful gardens, stop by the farmer’s market on Tuesday afternoons or swing through the Goat for ice cream on a hot summer day to name but a few options. But, best of all (and you can check with my husband and children on this, they will... Full Post >

Mas de Daumas Gassac Wine Dinner

Mas de Daumas Gassac is not your everyday wine. You will not see it at your local grocery store, you will not easily find its scores in your favorite wine magazine, and you might just have a hard time placing it in your wine vocabulary -- yet, to taste these wines is a necessity for any wine lover. These wines represent the very essence of what makes wine great.  On September 19th we will have Vergile Rousseau, National Brand Manager for the winery, and Thomas Meunier its importer, joining us... Wine of the Week [August 29 - September 4]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, inspect all wine glasses for visual symmetry before purchasing, we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m. The Loire Valley plays host for both of the wines for this week, specifically... A Big Congrats to Paula

Paula de Pano has been working with me at The Fearrington House Restaurant since 2010.  When she started she had just graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York (the other CIA), and I could tell that she had a serious passion for wine.  In the beginning the majority of her experience was in the back of the house (restaurant speak for the kitchen), at first she was timid, shy, but always driven to get better.  She was always full of questions, and as soon as she got an...
