Fearrington’s 12th Annual Folk Art Show was another huge success, an all-around delightful weekend. You never know what sort of big surprises are in store at the Folk Art Show and this year did not disappoint!
Mid-Sunday afternoon, André Leon Talley, former American editor-at-large of Vogue magazine, strolled in, all 6’6” of him! He is an amazing figure, in stature, accomplishment and good cheer, so he did not go unnoticed…and then he disappeared in our Barn!

Wow! For the first time in recent memory, the Folk Art Show brought sunny skies and warm weather both days! No sliding around on a light (or not so light) blanket of snow.
Our 2014 show was great fun for both artists and all the guests who came out to see the creations in The Fearrington Barn and out on the patio. There were 38 artists participating in the show this year, with six new artists who brought work ranging from delicate jewelry to beautifully twisted metal wire sculpture. All of... Full Post >

Rioja, the most recognizable and famous wine region in Spain, is the focus of March's wine class at The Granary on Thursday, March 6th. We will be taking a look at the region's history from the middle ages, to the first "modern period" when the influence of the Bordelais changed the regions course in the mid-19th century, to the second "modern period" in the late twentith Century when Rioja delved into a more international style, creating a divide between classical and modern producers. We had an amazing weekend filled with whimsical folk art, food and wine. If you weren't able to come out and experience The Fearrington Barn filled with Southern art and personalities, do not despair! The Village Center has a few lively surprises waiting for you to discover. It may be a tree covered in books outside of McIntyre’s or a waitress waiting to take your order on The Fearrington Granary’s patio – don’t forget to look on the ground too, for knitted mushrooms that will make you... ALERT: Last night, a gang of witty Fearrington knitters tagged a tree in front of McIntyre's with scarves. On the scarves are snarky fake book titles like Smart Beer by Bud Wiser and Robots by Anne Droid. One title, Falling Trees by Tim Burr, made me jump back! I was, after all, standing under a tree. That title may just be an homage to Pitbull and Ke$ha.
These crafty ne'er-do-wells didn't stop at one tree --you'll find homemade scarves, flowers, and puppets on... Full Post >

It’s always nice to give a Valentine’s Day gift you can both enjoy! Sant’ Evasio’s Brachetto D’Acqui is a pleasantly sweet sparkling red wine, made similarly to Moscato d’Asti. In the glass, soft red flowers, muddled cherries, and raspberry liqueur are prominent on the nose and palate, with a few gentle bubbles dancing around in the background. This will be perfect with all of those dark chocolate treats you are going to be feeding each other! ... Full Post >
