Pepperfest: A Tasty Time Was Had By All

The Fearrington Granary and Chef Colin served up sweet and spicy bites at the 6th Annual Abundance Foundation Pepper Festival this Sunday. Oh, what a day! The weather was beautiful, if a bit sultry for the first week of October, and the food and drink was delicious. We spent the afternoon strolling from table to table and enjoying zesty samples from some of the best local eateries, brew pubs and distilleries in the piedmont. Colin served up over 1000 tastings of Country Fried Pork with... Full Post >

Wine of the Week [September 12 - September 18]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, force house guests to perform a timed, oral blind tasting of any wine served and refuse to entertain any who cannot correctly identify the variety and the vintage within +/-1 year, we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering wine every week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available... My Favorite Place in Fearrington

Roost is my favorite place in all of Fearrington Village. It really and truly is. You can enjoy an amazing dinner at the "perfect for special occasions" Fearrington House or delicious casual "comfort food any time" at The Granary. You can stroll the beautiful gardens, stop by the farmer’s market on Tuesday afternoons or swing through the Goat for ice cream on a hot summer day to name but a few options. But, best of all (and you can check with my husband and children on this, they will... Full Post >

Mas de Daumas Gassac Wine Dinner

Mas de Daumas Gassac is not your everyday wine. You will not see it at your local grocery store, you will not easily find its scores in your favorite wine magazine, and you might just have a hard time placing it in your wine vocabulary -- yet, to taste these wines is a necessity for any wine lover. These wines represent the very essence of what makes wine great.  On September 19th we will have Vergile Rousseau, National Brand Manager for the winery, and Thomas Meunier its importer, joining us...
