Q&A with Molly Hurley & Suzanne Pond

We were excited to catch up with Molly Hurley and Suzanne Pond, before their Kinross trunk show at Dovecote on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th. Here is what they shared with us about their collection! How does your brand develop from season to season? Kinross strives to put a fresh, modern, relevant and original perspective on design. While keeping an eye on emerging trends, we craft our collection to include wear-now pieces for all sensibilities. We no longer see... Full Post >

Six Essential Bags Every Woman Should Own

We found it very difficult to narrow our handbag selection to a measly six, but if pressed these are the perfect ones. Crossbody: a crossbody is key. It's not too big, not too small, and perfect for weekend errands such as scoping out the farmer's market and going for coffee (and shopping at your favorite local boutique)! Hands-free shopping is very enjoyable. We love ones from Ceri Hoover, a Nashville designer who does beautiful things with leather and... Full Post >

Q&A with Cara May

We were thrilled to chat with designer Cara May before her trunk show at Dovecote on Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st. Here is what she shared with us about the collection! What three words best describe your line? Artisanal, understated, deconstructed. What has been your inspiration this season? I have been doing quite a bit of hiking in the Great Craggy Mountains this summer. There is something magical about the native grasses and evergreen shrubs up there that all... Full Post >

Q&A with Kimberly Abell

We were excited to speak with Kimberly Abell, for Equestrian Designs, before her trunk show at Dovecote on Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st. Here is what she shared with us about the collection! What was your inspiration this season? The colors of the Santa Inez Valley: the vineyards, the apple farms and horse farms. How does your brand develop from season to season? Equestrian offers basic silhouettes all year but we introduce new legs and lengths to the line every... Full Post >

Ruffled for Fall

We're eagerly anticipating fall at Dovecote Style, with new arrivals and trunk shows coming up soon! We have in store the most adorable lightweight flannel shirt by Bell. A beautiful flattering cut and a small ruffle on the cuff gives this top a wonderful feminine touch. The shirts are available in a variety of combinations - red with teal, grey with navy, or black with grey -- all with elbow patches. A perfect transition piece for Fall. Pair with a great pair of jeans and... Full Post >

Toast Time!

At Dovecote, if we're not discussing fashion then we are definitely discussing food. Staying atop the latest trends is important in both couture and cuisine, and we are very on board the toast trend. Avocado toast, gluten free toast, sinful French toast, you name it, we are fans. Which is why we love our new toast cookbooks! A toast cookbook sounds silly until you read one and your eyes are opened to the magical world of toast. Toppings we would have never dreamed of, innovative cooking... Full Post >

The Best Necklace for Each Neckline

Here at Dovecote, we are huge fans of accessorizing. But there's definitely a way to do it right. And a way to do it wrong. Pairing necklaces (lengths, colors, materials) with the wrong neckline can throw off a perfectly good look. Use this as a handy cheat sheet so you'll always look impeccable! With a turtleneck, wear a long, dangly necklace. It elongates the whole body. We love ones from Diane Cotton and Lele Sadoughi. With a collared shirt, our go-to is Fairchild-Baldwin. The... Matta Scarves

Here at Dovecote, we definitely play favorites. Matta New York, year after year, remains one of ours. These silk and cotton scarves are hand dyed, hand loomed, and hand made. Each of the (320!) tassels are tied, one by one, by hand. It takes several days and several people to make just one scarf. Founder Christina Gitti uses her travels as inspiration for the beautiful colors that grace our shop each season. Colors like Malibu, Wisteria, Slate, Cumin and Emerald are stunning and perfect... Up Your Cocktail Game

Inspired by the tasty handcrafted cocktails featured at The Fearrington House Restaurant or The Granary? So are we. These are truly works of art and though we could never replicate such stunners, we can come close thanks to some bartending accessories new at Dovecote. Molds from Peak Ice Works act as the base for your specialty drink. We have two; one makes massive cubes and the other makes crushed ice (it's much easier than crushing it yourself!) We love these because they keep our drink... Full Post >
