At Dovecote, Style Defined
January 8, 2016 9:15 AM | By Dovecote Stylists | No Comments
This look was styled by Cassie.
Sometimes, simplicity is key. With this look, we start with a simple base: black cashmere turtleneck from Kinross, simple leggings from Equestrian Designs, suede kitten heel from Bettye Muller.
But there’s a twist! The turtleneck is topped with a beautiful charcoal and pink scarf, the leggings have the faintest foil design printed on them, the suede heel is adorned with a bow and we’ve finished the look with hand beaded Miguel Ases earrings.
It’s all very classically girly – note the flowery jewelry and the aforementioned bow – but we love to add the small twists to play with preconceived notions. That’s what makes classic so . . . classic! You can always riff on the basic. Be bold and original!
Classic Defined: A Classic style is the basis of chic fashion. It has characteristics that appeal to a majority of “neat & tidy” women – especially those who appreciate tailored clothes and accessories. Minimalism, Preppy and Elegant style are variations of this fashion persona. Timeless design, usually black, grey, sometimes white or nude, with the occasional pop of color. Always flattering, never out of style, and always tasteful.

We are excited to share changes to our wines by-the-glass offerings in 2016! Starting this month, our by-the-glass section of the wine list will focus on producers which either practice organic or biodynamic agriculture in their vineyards, or focus on wines made from grapes grown in vineyards that are cared for in these two techniques. As a green certified restaurant we aim to continually increase what we can do to benefit the environment, making our choice for our wines a natural... Full Post >
New year, new you! New style! New Dovecote!
There's something so refreshing about beginning a brand new year. That feeling of optimism and opportunity, of hope and excitement. We love it because it means more shopping!
We're already starting to get new items in the store, from tried and true designers such as Equestrian (Milo pants are in stock!) to brand new lines such as Pink Tartan, Mahi and Hendrika.
A trend that's been picking up steam is the idea of your closet as a... Full Post >
In Our Gardens
The sudden arrival of winter weather in our area - and on National Bird Day, at that - has inspired us to share a brief summary of ways to help our garden friends survive the toughest and coldest days of the season.
Providing shelter from the storm can be as easy as making small piles of brush here and there throughout the garden. Adding some leafy branches to the top of the piles will give additional cover to birds trying to stay warm. Leaving dead trees up - where possible - allows... Full Post >
Our principle floral designer, Mary Stevens, and her team have been working with reBouquet, an organization associated with The Flower Shuttle, since January. ReBouquet collects donated floral arrangements to be recycled and shared with community members who need them most. We are thrilled to share more about this organization's lovely work in our community.
What is reBouquet?
reBouquet is a volunteer organization with the mission to collect donated flowers and recycle them into new... Full Post >

There is no better time to wear glittery pants than the holiday season. We love this cigarette-style pair from Day Birger et Mikkelsen, especially paired with a reversible architectural top from TY-LR. A pair of extra sparkly earrings, hand beaded by Miguel Ases and a paprika-colored leather Opera clutch from Joanna Maxham complete the look and it’s all perfectly punctuated by this stylish heel from Bettye Muller.
We picture this look at a celebratory... Full Post >
