Yule Logs are back again this year at The Goat! Chef Colin Bedford and Fearrington’s cake designer Emma Isakoff thought up some especially delicious flavors to tempt your taste buds this season. Don’t forget the wine. Selections and notes below by Fearrington’s Wine Director Maximilian Kast.
These decadent desserts are $35 each and can be ordered by stopping by or calling The Goat at 919.545.5717. The final day to place a yule log orders is Friday, December 19th. All orders will be available for pick up on Wednesday December 24th from 10am-4pm.

Gingerbread Cake with White Chocolate Espresso Mousse Filling
Broadbent, Rain Water Madeira, Portugal, MV. $11
This wine has caramel, walnut, and gingerbread notes on the nose, with a full-body, balancing sweetness, and a long finish.
White Chocolate Peppermint
Chocolate Cake with White Chocolate Peppermint Mousse
Vietti, Moscato d’asti, Piedmont, Italy, 2013 $16
Floral, fruity, light, bubbly, sweet and low in alcohol this wine will bring out the peppermint for a refreshing way to finish any holiday meal.
Orange, Dulce & Cranberry
Orange Cake with Dulce de Leche Filling & Dried Cranberries
Cesar Florido, Moscatel Pasas, Chipiona Spain, MV. $20
The wine has orange peel and blossom aromatics with dried fig, with just the perfect amount of sweetness and acidity, this pairing will put everyone in the holiday spirit in true Dickenson style.
Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream Mousse & Brandied Cherries
D’Oliveiras, Monastrell Dulce, Jumilla, Spain $34
This is one of my favorite dessert wines, it is made from dried Monastrell (Mourvedre) grapes in Jumilla, outside of Valenica, it has ripe dark cherry fruit, fig-pudding, clove and spice notes, perfect for dark chocolate and cherry.
