Erin & Adrian

Erin and Adrian tied the knot on October 25, 2014. These newlyweds danced the night away in the Fearrington Barn.

How did you and your partner meet?
Adrian and I both worked at Georgetown University Law Center. After about a year of just saying “hi” in the halls he finally asked me out. We dated for about 2 years when I received the biggest surprise of my life.

Tell us about the engagement?
I was on a work trip in London and one early morning there was a knock on my hotel room door. When I opened it there was Adrian standing in a suit. I couldn’t believe he was there and immediately started crying. Adrian did his best to calm me down, but I couldn’t stop crying and asking “what are you doing here?!” to which he replied “I miss you.” After a few minutes of this Adrian couldn’t wait any longer. He bent down on one knee and pulled a ring box from his pocket and asked me to marry him!

What made Fearrington the place for you to say “I do?’
Our wedding vision was very much centered around family and having fun! When we started looking for reception venues we knew we wanted something unique. As soon as we came to Fearrington we knew it was a special place. It was beautiful and we felt at home. Adrian grew up in Chapel Hill and he often would come out to Fearrington with his mom and siblings, which made the location extra special.

Describe the highlight moment of your wedding day.
Really the whole day was amazing. Just being able to look out into the room and see literally every single person who we love and who loves us together was the most amazing feeling in the world. If I had to pick one moment that really surprised and touched me was during the reception – Adrian and I had made a list of people we wanted to thank and acknowledge at the reception. After we went through our list Adrian took the microphone from me and started off with saying “I am going off script, Erin doesn’t know what I am about to say”, which of course made me very nervous since I had every minute of the week planned out. Adrian then went on to share how he felt about me and how much he loved me. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, especially mine. I was so caught off guard and I couldn’t love him more for it.

Anything you want to add about your wedding story?
Working with the amazing team at Fearrington was such a blessing. Gilda McDaniel on planning, Mary Stevens on florals and Emma Isakoff on cake. Each person was so wonderful, it made the planning process a breeze. The day after the wedding I told Gilda I didn’t know what to do since we no longer had a reason to talk all of the time, and she of course said we would stay in touch!

In a surprising twist of fate I was contacted in early 2015 and offered a job to work in the Weddings office at Fearrington Village! It is truly amazing to work where I had the best day of my life. Of course like every bride I think my wedding was the best day ever and I feel very blessed to help others feel the exact same way.

This wedding was designed and coordinated by Fearrington’s own Gilda McDaniel.

Dovecote Style: DEFINED

Generally speaking, women will favor one style category — Classic, Bohemian, Chic or Avant Garde. Classic style is defined by timelessness, simplicity and impeccable taste, with lots of neutrals while the bohemian (or boho) style employs color and an organic vintage sensibility. Chic is the perfect example of elegance and is embodied by those fashionable women who are aware of trends without necessarily following them. The avant garde fashionista never backs away from a risk. They are the... Full Post >
