Welcome to the Goat’s wine blog! My name is David Lamb and I am the new Sommelier here at the Fearrington House. I am a North Carolina native and have recently moved from California to pursue my passion for food, wine and service here. I am eager to meet you and answer all of the questions you may have about wine. There is no question too big or small. Its my job to know about wine and its your job to enjoy it!
I would like to share a rough outline of what our wine selection looks like. We take pride in offering our selection in the most affordable way possible. You will not find a wine over $40, and we have a collection of some of the most famous regions and producers in the world!
Our whites include sweet and dry, floral and unique, and bold and fruity. Therefore you can find a sweet German Riesling, a bone dry Sancerre sauvignon blanc, floral Albarino and Viognier, and enough Chardonnay to keep everyone happy at your next dinner party!
As for reds, we offer some of the most popular varietals including Napa Cabs, Argentine Malbecs, and Sonoma Zinfandels. Moving up you find more Italian wines, Barbera and Valpolicella and the related sorts. Top middle is Syrah country, and bottom middle to left is spice territory. Rhone river valley wines such as Chateauneuff du Pape – my favorite! – and Vacqueyras dominate with an additional selection of Grenache/Garnacha from France and Spain.
To sum it up, we have what you’re looking for! We can accommodate the every day and the special occasion, the dinner party and the easy pairing. Looking for something particular, or a certain number of bottles? Have comments or questions? Stop by The Goat’s wine shop to and I will do my best to have what you’re looking for. Fearrington Village is a wonderful, beautiful, community of people and I am honored to be here. This is your home! I am here to make sure your wine needs are taken care of.

As it always seems to do, Valentine's Day is sneaking up on us. We have the perfect gift for your sweetheart at Dovecote.
Today, we're focusing on our fabulous multi-function clutch. If you've ever shopped at Dovecote (or know someone who does), you know about this handbag. It's a clutch, a wristlet, a shoulder bag, and a crossbody in one. It comes in every color under the sun. It contains pockets, spaces for your credit cards, and even a zippered pouch for loose change. It is, in a word,... Full Post >
Valentine's Day is sneaking up around the corner this year as it always seems to do. At Dovecote, we have got the perfect gift.
We focus a lot on the ladies here at the shop, but we haven't completely neglected the gents! For Valentine's Day, we love the idea of gifting a Collared Greens tie or bowtie! Certainly, we are partial to our custom Beltie pattern in red for the holiday, but we have several others that fit the bill. Whether it be striped, coral, or even a bold pink, we have plenty... Chris "Chub" Hubbard left a 20 year career as a microbiologist and environmental consultant in 1998 to be "born again" as an artist. With no formal art training, Hubbard created the now-iconic, slightly irreverent, Heaven and Hell Car. The car is decorated with his first attempts at primitive carvings made from found wood, sheet metal and other objects. The pieces on the car depict his Catholic upbringing and his deep appreciation for outsider and visionary artists from the South. The car... Full Post >
At McIntyre's Books
It’s that time of year again - roses are everywhere and you can’t get into your favorite restaurant unless you made reservations weeks in advance. Yes, Valentine’s Day rears its commercial head once again and I’m here to talk mysteries, love, relationships and a whole bunch of other stuff I don’t know anything about (except mysteries, I do know mysteries).
When it comes to mysteries there really isn’t much love involved, unless it’s tragic love or a cozy set in a tea shop,... Full Post >
In Our Spa
February is the month to take time to pamper your sweetheart. Since February is host to National Heart Month and Valentine's Day, it's a great time to treat your sweetie - and yourself. Studies show that when you give someone a gift, you get the same feelings of pleasure as the person who receives the gift.
Take time to relax with your loved one at The Spa at Fearrington. Book a 60 minute couple's massage and enjoy a glass of champagne with pedicures together for the ultimate... Full Post >
