At Dovecote, we love a good trend – and what better time than a brand new year to try something new with your wardrobe as well? As long as it’s flattering and feels true to your personality, we say embrace it!
Do you live for comfort? Sneakers are still trending into 2017, as well as wide leg pants. Cinched waists are also in; we love a belt or a “garbage bag waisted” pant with a slim fitting top. When comfort meets style, everyone wins!
Pantone’s Color of the Year 2017: Greenery
Shoulders are still big, with cutouts, slits, and details adorning sleeves. Volume will play a big role as well and off the shoulder styles are less severe and more casual (think Flashdance). So pretty!
Neutrals will continue through from fall, with pops of bubblegum pink, rose, and coral. Pantone declared a grassy green the color of the year, but it is really all about pink. Considering this is a very flattering color for most skin tones, this is great news!
As far as prints or patterns go, stripes are it. The bolder, the better.
Bare shoulders, pops of pink, graphic stripes, and flattering silhouettes. Looks like it’s going to be one fun spring!

At McIntyre's Books
There were so many great books to choose from in 2016, but I put everyone’s feet to the literary fire until they coughed up just one pick.
Keebe went with Lee Smith’s Dimestore: “wonderful snippets from the life of one of my favorite authors.”
After a long awkward pause during which Pete struggled with some deep-level Sophie’s Choices, he finally picked The Sellout by Paul Beatty: “after twenty years, people are finally noticing how talented this guy is.”

Ice is a bar ingredient that many people often overlook. In simple terms, it’s frozen water. It is frozen water that is shaken or stirred with spirits to chill or dilute a cocktail. Take a look at the ice that you have in your freezer – it is cloudy because of the natural impurities and gases in the frozen water. Now imagine ice that you can see through.
There are two things that I like to observe when I am at a bar – if my bartender automatically pours me water, and the quality of the... Full Post >
