Hosting A Holiday Appetizer Party

Holiday entertaining is all about lots of food, drink and jubilation! And appetizer parties are a great way to entertain family, friends and neighbors. To guarantee a diverse appetizer spread, we suggest serving a combination of finger foods that satisfy several of the following food categories:

Garden
Include appetizers made with fruit or vegetables—raw, cooked, or stuffed.

Starch
Hearty, starchy appetizers include finger sandwiches, bruschetta, breadsticks, crackers, and rolls. Cheesy appetizers pair nicely with this category.

Protein
Serve meat or fish dishes, such as meatballs, chicken wings, or sushi, to give your guests protein. You could also make an egg, cheese or tofu appetizer.

Desserts
No dinner would be complete without dessert! Some sweet party appetizer ideas are cookies, slivers of cake, candies, and chocolates.

If your guests have dietary restrictions, consider having vegetarian appetizers or gluten-free appetizers.

Dovecote offers a variety of specialty cookbooks, including “The Effortless Entertaining Cookbook” with a collection of recipes perfect for celebrating the season and sure to delight your guests. Find festive takes on appetizer classics as well as elegant hors d’oeuvres that are sure to impress!

And let’s not forget the cocktails! Try focusing on one spirit, like vodka or gin, and serve a few variations. Consider offering hot and cold beverages. And be sure to include a non-alcoholic mock tail for your non-drinking guests. “Winter Cocktails” and “The New Cocktail Hour” are a great source of ideas for the bar.

Keep it fun and simple yet elegant with help from your stylists at Dovecote. We’re here to assist you in selecting serve ware, glassware, barware, and tabletop décor that will make you the hostess with the mostest!

Happy Holidays!
