There are so many ways to add simple, personal touches to wedding décor, and we certainly welcome creative ideas at Fearrington. One thing that I often encourage couples to do is personalize what they call their tables in the seating plan. Of course you can never beat the good old numbering system (1, 2, 3), but how about calling them names of cities traveled together, places of significance from college, names of flowers? You name it – there’s no end to creative options. Personally, I think mine would be different types of candy.
Another common theme we see is displaying photos of the couple growing up and growing as a couple. This is a great way for guests to get to know a couple better and see their journey to the Big Day.
Recently a Fearrington wedding combined the two! The tables were classically numbered, but the numbers signified ages of the couple as they grew up. Next to each number were 2 photos, one each for the bride and groom at age 1, 2, 9, etc. Then, beginning at 21 and from then on, each photo was of the happy couple together.
Lots of fun, don’t you think?
