A few weeks ago, when the low here in North Carolina was 6° and the high was 21°, Paige, Brian, Greg and I were all fortunate enough to be visiting sunny California. Now in California, the low was 60° and the daily high 75° — not too shabby! Luckily, now we are in the 70s or else you would have stopped reading this immediately.
So why were we across the country? We were on a fact finding mission of sorts, seeing homes and gathering information about some of the latest building trends. It may seem strange, but with limited land and an abundance of people, parts of California have done a very nice, and unique, job of development. Their thoughtful use of land planning has helped them create neighborhoods where homes are relatively close, but plants and hardscape provide privacy and individuality. While we think Fearrington has accomplished that and more, it is always good to see what other folks are doing and how we might improve. We came back with some broad stroke ideas and we can’t wait to see how they play out in Fearrington’s future developments.
Hope R.B. will ask us to go again in February next year!
