Q&A with Katherine Page

We were excited to catch up with Katherine Page, designer for Katherine Page Shoes, before her trunk show at Dovecote on Saturday, May 14th and Sunday, May 15th. Here is what she shared with us about her stylish footwear!

What three words best describe your line?
Timeless, Classic, Luxurious.

What has been your inspiration this season?
I draw my inspiration from the Equestrian world where I spend so much of my time. The color palette is inspired by the colors of the horses. Rich chestnuts, browns, blacks, and grays . Also the beautiful brown leather of the bridles, saddles and the black of the riding boots.

What is your favorite piece your collection and why?
Well it is a little like trying to choose a favorite child! I love them all. But I supposed the Devon style is my favorite because it was the first style that I designed and was the basis for the whole brand. It is the most classic, simplest style – the ” fancy stitching” on the center strap is a hallmark of the brand and makes them instantly recognizable as a Katharine Page product.

How do you view your personal style?
Simplicity is the fundamental basis for my personal style. I have a less is more approach to the way I dress on a day to day basis. I prefer tailored pieces in a neutral palette. For me it is all about quality. Basics that are neither “in” nor “out” but are stylish and timeless.

Do you have recommendations on styling items from your collection?
I love to see my customers slip on a pair of my sandals or flats with their riding breeches at the end of a horse show day. It makes it easy to go right from the event to a casual dinner. Of course they are great with jeans or white pants and work well with casual skirts and dresses.

If you could provide one piece of fashion advice what would it be?
I would say invest in quality basic pieces. Crisp white shirts, cashmere sweaters, great fitting jeans, a great black or navy blazer. These key pieces can be dressed up or down and take you almost anywhere. And of course accessorize with beautiful sandals and shoes by Katharine Page!
