Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts! Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, play fantasy wine producer instead of fantasy football (I drafted winemaker Ernst Loosen and Donhhof’s estate in the first round…my league is full of n00bs…#candyfromababy), we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering two wines per week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m.
Each week in June will feature a rosé to help make enjoying the Spring/Summer weather a little easier. The first week featured a still, dry Spanish rosado from Bodegas Muga. This week we’ll take it in a completely different direction. For all of us who just adore a good glass of bubbly, we have an off-dry, sparkling rosé from deep in the heart of Beaujolais in France. Located just outside of the Cru region of Juliénas, Franck Besson’s estate makes a variety of awesome red and white wines all from the black Gamay grape, but his Rosé Granit is what we will have our focus on.
Franck Besson’s Rosé Granit is a stunning example of sparkling Gamay. Bing cherries, wild raspberries, and finer bubbles tickle the nose and wash the palate once the glass is tipped, followed by a refreshing touth of acidity on the finish. Very slightly sweet, this rosé is a perfect companion for the Summer evenings to come!
