Q&A with Jill Fairchild

We were excited to catch up with Jill Fairchild, for Fairchild|Baldwin, before their trunk show at Dovecote on Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th. Here is what she shared with us about this beautiful collection!

What was your inspiration this season?
My inspiration this season stems from travel and everything around me – art, architecture, food, nature, etc. Texture plays a major role for fall and marks the introduction of different collar treatments, from stamped croc and shagreen, to a stamped suede lizard. Color is a focus, as always in my collections – from rich jewel tones to subtle autumn pastels.

How does your brand develop from season to season?
I am always in full swing developing the collection and introduce new designs throughout the year – I believe it is important to keep our customers coming back for more and not just solely during the fashion seasons. Each design morphs from the incubation stage to a full blown Fairchild|Baldwin creation over weeks of development, always perfected for its beauty as well as its precise functionality.

What is your favorite piece from your current collection?
I would have to say our Masai collection inspired by the Masai tribe in Kenya.

Do you have recommendations on styling items from your collection?
Fairchild Baldwin always seeks to inspire the individual style of the women who wear our pieces. What’s great about our collection is that the necklaces can be worn with all different styles – minimalist to boho, contemporary casual to evening chic. Fairchild Baldwin designs are all about versatility!

What is you ideal OOTD (outfit of the day)? Please describe your outfit and how your brand plays a key role.
Paired down chic best describes my style. Never losing sight of comfort and not overplaying or over-thinking an outfit – that’s where things go awry, and no one wants to be a fashion victim. Pairing the highs with the lows also defines my style. I tend to wear classics with a light edge and then spice up my look with accessories. I am a big fan of winter white in the cold months and add a splash of color to my outfit wearing my Fairchild Baldwin – the completion to any wardrobe

Lia & Rob

Lia and Rob tied the knot on April 29, 2016. These newlyweds said their "I do"s under the Willow Oaks and danced the night away in The Barn! How did you and your partner meet? Well, I would say it was one of those moments where I looked up from my books in the library to see this handsome guy walk in with his coffee and a eight hours of studying ahead of him, but no . . . I basically picked him up in a bar on Roatán, Honduras, and wouldn’t let him out of my sight for the week he was on... Full Post >

The Golden Ratio

The Golden Ratio – also called the Golden Mean – is a 1:3 to 2:3 ratio that appears in nature and is found to be the most aesthetically pleasing division of space. It has applications in mathematics, architecture, art and fashion where it is often referred to as "the rule of thirds." In fashion, most figures are more appealing to the observing eye if visually divided into thirds. When dressing in a 1:1 ratio (halves), the result can look boxy and unflattering. Using a 1:2 or 2:1 ratio... Full Post >

Meet Beverage Director Paula de Pano

I never thought that I would end up in the hospitality industry – my parents, traditional and well-meaning, always had high hopes that their daughter would become a lawyer or a doctor. But I soon found I had more interest in cooking fancy dinners for the family than burying my nose in books and studying numbers. In 2008, I enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in New York after acquiring my a degree in Marketing and Public Relations in the Philippines. It was at the CIA where I... Full Post >
