Pete’s Spring Picks

Often, publishers and editors send advance copies of upcoming book releases to bookstores so their staff are ready to advise readers as soon as the book hits the shelf.

Here’s a trio of books that Pete loved – he’s looking forward to getting them into reader’s hands this spring.

Rabbit Cake by Annie Hartnett. Pete got a galley of Hartnett’s debut novel from its Chapel Hill-based editor, and deems it, “the most enjoyable book since Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore.”

The Twelve Lives of Samuel Holly by Hannah Tinti, author of The Good Thief, is, “a great story about a family through twelve scars.”

White Tears by Hari Kunzru is, “a dysfunctional ghost story revolving around friendship and old-style blues.”

William Brock is a self-taught artist born and raised in Sequatichie County, Tennessee. For over twenty years he supervised high-rise and commercial construction across the Southeast, but in the late 90s, he moved back to Tennessee and settled into his vision of semi-retirement.
