Last week, The James Beard Foundation announced the semifinalists for the 27th Annual James Beard Foundation awards. Semifinalists are selected from a list of over 24,000 online entries and represent culinary talent in different geographic regions as well as outstanding service, restaurant design and more. Fearrington is pleased to announced that The Fearrington House Restaurant’s Executive Chef Colin Bedford was named a semifinalist for Best Chef Southeast.
“I’m honored to be included on James Beard Foundation’s semifinalist list, along with other peer restaurants in the Triangle,” said Chef Bedford. “Our team strives to create a true and memorable experience for every guest, and to have that hard work be recognized by such a respected organization is an extraordinary feeling.”
Of the 20 chefs nominated in the Best Chef Southeast category, nine were from North Carolina, including Chef Vivian Howard, of Chef & The Farmer, and Steven Devereaux Greene, of Herons at The Umstead Hotel.
Winners of the James Beard Foundation awards are chosen independently by a volunteer judging panel of restaurant critics, food and wine editors, culinary educators and past James Beard award winners across the country. All winners will be announced May 1st at the James Beard Foundation Awards Gala in Chicago.
Founded in 1986, The James Beard Foundation’s mission is to celebrate, nurture and honor chefs and other leaders making America’s food culture more delicious, diverse and sustainable for everyone.
