Giving Back with Gingerbread

For the 12th annual gingerbread benefit for Triangle Family Services, Fearrington’s cake designer Emma Isakoff crafted a miniature replica of The Fearrington House Restaurant, made entirely of gingerbread course! This beautifully detailed sweet creation placed third in the contest and helped raise money that will assist local families in crisis.

So, how do you build a farmhouse of gingerbread?

First measure and make a plan.

Then bake up all of the pieces. Yes, shutters, doors, columns, shingles and all!

Once you have the pieces, make sure the original plan works. Check!

Now, for the real fun…assemble with icing of course. A little help from Fearrington’s Executive Chef Colin Bedford doesn’t hurt!

Finally, dress it up with snow globes, snowmen and Belties!

From the hand-blown sugar bow to the winking snowman to Beltie’s red tongue to Santa sneaking in the chimney, this “gingerbread house” is a feast for the eyes! Congrats Emma!

Transformation Tuesday

For today's transformation, we've taken a casual look and transformed it into a more business-like ensemble, utilizing our Jeniger jacket and Miley pant in winter white from Equestrian Designs. We also have the same suit in a uniquely beautiful taupe in the shop. We've paired this suit with one of our Bosca leather notebook covers because who says women can't shop in the men's department? We've then taken this daytime business attire and transformed to nighttime chic. Here at Dovecote... Full Post >
